The state of New York has provided a list of medical conditions that they consider to be qualifying for the use of medical marijuana. Below you can view the list of approved medical conditions provided by the New York Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) to find out if you qualify for a New York medical card.

Qualifying Conditions List for New York Medical Marijuana

On January 24, 2022, the NY Office of Cannabis Management announced that it was expanding eligibility for the use of medical marijuana to “allow the certification of a patient by a practitioner for any condition that the practitioner believes can be treated with medical cannabis.” This includes, but is not limited to:

• Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
• Cancer
• Chronic pain
• Epilepsy
• HIV or AIDS
• Huntington’s disease
• Inflammatory bowel disease
• Multiple sclerosis
• Neuropathy
• Parkinson’s disease
• Post-traumatic stress disorder
• Spinal cord injury with spasticity
• Cachexia or wasting syndrome
• Opioid use disorder
• PTSD
• Seizures
• Severe nausea
• Severe or chronic pain
• Severe or persistent muscle spasms
